Terms of use
These terms are the agreement between you and In Pencil. We’ve tried to keep them short and plain. By creating an account, you agree to them.
1. The service
In Pencil (“we,” “us”), operated by LaunchCode Consulting LLC, provides an online planner for homeschooling families (the “Service”). We may improve, change or remove features over time. If we remove something you’re paying for, we’ll tell you in advance.
2. Your account
You must be 18 or older to create an account. You’re responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account, including anything done by adults you invite. Children may use the Service only under a parent or guardian’s supervision and through that adult’s account.
When you add information about a child, you confirm you’re that child’s parent or legal guardian, or have their permission.
3. Free trial, subscription and billing
- Free trial. New accounts get 7 days free, with no card required.
- Household plan. $9.99 a month or $99 a year, billed in advance through Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel any time from Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
- Refunds. We don’t offer refunds for partial periods, except where required by law. You can cancel any time from Settings; you keep access until the end of the prepaid period.
- Price changes. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before a price change applies to you.
4. When an account lapses or closes
If your subscription or free trial ends, planning is paused. For 60 days you can still sign in to subscribe; the planner stays closed during that window. We email you 30, 7 and 1 day before the account closes. After 60 days the account and its data are deleted, as described in our Privacy policy.
5. Your content
Everything you put into In Pencil — plans, notes, records, photos of work — stays yours. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the Service for you. We don’t claim ownership of it and don’t use it for any other purpose.
Please only upload content you have the right to share, such as your own family’s work and photos.
6. Acceptable use
Don’t use the Service to break the law, upload harmful or infringing material, try to access other people’s accounts, interfere with the Service’s operation, or resell it. We may suspend an account that does these things, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
7. Records and legal requirements
In Pencil helps you keep records, but it isn’t legal or educational advice and doesn’t follow any particular state’s rules. You’re responsible for knowing and meeting the homeschooling requirements where you live, and for checking any report or transcript before you submit it.
8. Our property
The In Pencil name, logo, software and design belong to us. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service while your account is in good standing — not ownership of it.
9. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep In Pencil running and your data safe, but the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We recommend exporting your records from time to time.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, In Pencil won’t be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
11. Ending this agreement
You can stop using In Pencil and delete your account at any time. We may end or suspend accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we ever shut the Service down, we’ll give at least 60 days’ notice so you can export everything.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, Florida, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
13. Changes and contact
If we make a material change to these terms, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms. Questions: hello@inpencil.app.
